Ashawn’s Story

Class of 2026

As a high school senior, Ashawn was searching for a small, supportive environment where he could thrive academically while deepening his faith—and Oak Valley College stood out as the ideal place to excel. What surprised him most after arriving was the genuine warmth of the campus community; the faculty and staff cared deeply about every single student, cultivating a true family atmosphere.

That supportive environment fueled both his personal and academic growth. In the classroom, classes like Old Testament Survey opened new horizons, offering him a historical perspective on the Bible that enriched his lifelong journey in the church. Over his time at Oak Valley College, Ashawn transformed not only as a student—learning practical wisdom along the way, like the importance of staying ahead on his reading—but also as a spiritual leader and a better man.

Community at Oak Valley College extends far beyond traditional study spaces. One of Ashawn's favorite experiences was the annual student retreat, a unique program rare among colleges. Gathering off campus gave his cohort the chance to grow closer to God, bond with classmates, and build meaningful relationships with professors and staff outside the classroom.

After graduating from Oak Valley College in 2026, Ashawn took his next big step toward his goal. Leveraging the partnership between Oak Valley and California Baptist University, he is currently attending CBU to earn his Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare - continuing a journey grounded in faith, community, and strong leadership.
