Student Success
Mentoring is life coaching with someone who cares about you.
One of the most unique opportunities at Oak Valley is the chance to be mentored. Mentors come from all walks of life. What makes them valuable is their life experience, wisdom, and connectivity to opportunities and experiences that can help you on your personal, professional, and spiritual journey.
How does mentoring work?
Mentors help you tap into your purpose. Oak Valley’s mentoring program is structured around a series of monthly meetings where you discuss specific topics designed to explore your strengths, interests, and personal and professional opportunities for growth. Your mentor will have questions to guide the conversation.
Sounds intimidating? Don’t worry. Even some of the shyest students have done well with their mentors. You will ease into the experience.
Many students describe the mentoring process as the most rewarding aspect of life at Oak Valley. Some students even get internships and job offers through their mentors.
You can connect with a mentor when you become a sophomore, so there is plenty of time to learn more and address any questions.
What if I do not know what to talk about? Your discussions are structured around comfortable questions. Nearly every student comes into the conversation not knowing what to expect and leaving feeling fulfilled and inspired. Frequently, students say, “My mentor is amazing. He/she is so helpful. It is such a great experience.”
